Reducing manufacturing costs

Draka is a premium cable manufacturer headquartered in the Netherlands and they wanted to reduce the costs of their factories in Western Europe. They needed to close their factory in Ystad and transfer product manufacturing to other Draka sites, while maintaining the highest standards of customer service.

They asked PA to support this project, drawing on our successful implementation of a previous factory consolidation for Draka. We used our experience to provide expert relocation advice and support for the migration project. We applied a three step approach starting by developing the management plan, followed by detailed planning to focus on implementing urgent activities. Finally, we managed the hand-over to the client’s project office.

Our support helped Draka to create a highly motivated team that could cooperate across locations and cultural barriers. The joint Draka-PA work provided a detailed practical plan and project management infrastructure. The meant the project was handed over slightly below budget and six months ahead of schedule.
