The University of Miami had been using a legacy PBX for voice mail to support its teaching and administrative staff, student employees, and others working at the campus hospital and clinics. When the PBX manufacturer annonuced the system´s end-of-life, the university decided to review other communications products that offered more than voice mail.
The University of Miami enventually found an open, software-based, unified communications system called Messaging Interaction Center (MIC) by Interactive Intelligence. The university selected MIC due to its innovative architecture desinged for large, distributed environments; flexible deployment options; centralized administration; and broad range of features.
